Studying Theater at University and then an M.A. degree in Animation made me a visual artist. I did become interested in storytelling and writing when I found I have the power to use the proper medium for every story. I then applied for a course in writing to pursue what I have always dreamed to be, a creator. I then created some plays and short animations and a movie script. I also designed it whenever it was needed. I designed some puppets for my show “The Dark Symphony” which was recognized as the best play and best design at the 8th festival of puppetry in Tehran. My short Animation “The Flowers” was selected for the Tehran animation festival and brought me a diploma. My other animation” Nasseredin Shah and his 84 Wives” was a segment on a Norwegian documentary by Beate Peterson, which was a hit on the Internet and in Farsi-speaking media.
Born in Tehran in 1979 and then immigrated to Canada in 2008. Living in two languages, Persian and English, has made me curious about the nature of writing and language. The relationship between writing and the self and the sense of belonging that eludes writers, especially, writers in exile who take solace in words. I created THE WRITING AND THE BOOK to write about books and authors who are also writing about identity, and belonging. I also write periodically on Meduim.com and always looking for opportunities to collaborate with artists around the world.
I created my studio “The Corner Studio” in 2018 with the idea of creating a space for adults and children to connect through visual art, literature, music, and storytelling. I believe there is no limit to the medium you use while you are creating and you can tell your story any way you wish. I teach how to create a story whether it’s a comic book or a puppet show or a short story or an animation.
